National Museum of Ethnography
Integral and energy rehabilitation
The proposal offers silent, respectful and innovative intervention on a neoclassical building with a claustral floor, which will host the future in National Museum of Ethnography (MNE), through an integral rehabilitation of the same together with the execution of various extension actions.
The rehabilitation of the existing building is completed with the occupation of the courtyards of the existing building by two strategies: the coverage of the central courtyard generating the museum’s large lobby space, reception area, the reception, central and nuclear space from which Access to the different areas of the MNE and the execution of new volumes built as “BOXES” in the side yards, with its structure embedded in the existing load-bearing walls that will contain the main rooms of the permanent exhibition.
